GAME 3 – Yankee Stadium
Gubicza vs Clemens
Yankees 6, Royals 5
The series shifted
east and the Big Ball Orchard up in the Bronx was electric. The Bombers needed to win the pivotal game 3
or risk going down 3 zip in a best of 4 series.
At one point NY was up 5-2, but the scrappy Royals refused to die and eventually
brought it back to a one run deficit with 2 in the top of the 6th. New York would answer back in the bottom of
the frame with a clutch 2 out Bernie Williams
single that knocked in Robby Cano.
KC would play small ball in the top of the 7th with a Willie
Wilson single/steal and another Frank White RBI knock. The 8th would see Jeff Nelson hold
the lead for NY and the was enter Sandman time.
Mo was Mo and the game was a lock, which meant the series was on.
Royals lead series 2-1
