Smoltz (5.2 / 4ER) was
not at his HOF best, while Bob Knepper (6.2 / 2ER) was rock solid. San Fran jumped out to a 4-0 lead after five. Atlanta cut the lead in half with solo runs
in the 6th and 6th, but a 3 run bottom of the 7th
for the Jints put the game away. A “Say
Hey” day for Willie Mays (3-4) who knocked in 4 and
hit two huge blasts. Cepeda and Bonds
each left the yard. Randy Moffitt
pitched a perfect 9th for the save.
Giants lead series 2-1
